The Lollards: August 2006 - July 2007, RIP

The Lollards are disbanding after one year of weekly or twice weekly rehearsals, monthly shows, and just about 4,500 bottles of beer. Jon is moving to New Orleans to open his own independent coffee shop. Thanks to everyone who came out to a gig or bought a cd.

It sucks...but that's rock n roll.

For those of you left behind to mourn in Madison, check out The Michael Fairchild Band, Another Mistake, or Champion Brunch...where the remaining Lollards will be biding their time.

Hot Fun in the Summertime

Michael has returned from Hawaii having had a great time despite social irritations and cuckold priapism (thankfully, not his own).

We had a near miss with a Friday gig at The Klinic and we're still waiting with baited breath (pee-ew!) to hear from The King Club. Some day Dar will wander into The Local Tavern to check on things there too. But we assure you...we're pounding the pavement (ouch! Some of us started pounding the pavement moments after our last gig...but that's a long and unpleasant story...) looking for some summer gigs!

In any case, plans have been hatched to record a full length...perhaps even super extended length...cd. Perhaps in September after Jon's moving woahs (woah Nelly!) are over. We must preserve the phenomenon that is known as The Lollards for posterity should something nasty like the City of New Orleans (riding on the City of New Orleans...) cause a sudden, unexpected (not really) dissolution.

"It started happening two years ago when Tad auditioned for The New Monkeys Show
He didn't get the part...He played too loud
This threatened dissolution spawned a stronger resolution
And a vow to never mess with what was fate
World Tour 88"

Final Fiesta Debrief

Quote for the Show: "The music is hurting someone's hearing aid." Indeed it IS too loud...and everyone is too old. Frankly, the levels seemed fine to us in the band, though...so who knows what that means.
Thought for the Show #1: Never ask someone who isn't a musician and doesn't understand a basic minimum about live music sound to check your sound levels.
Thought for the Show #2: People with free unlimited beer and sunshine don't give a shit about live music. If you want to feel the love, play at a marathon.
Equation for the Show: 7+ drinks < 3hours =" 0.16"> bad
Lesson for the Show: Always wear your bike helmet when riding.
Highlight of Show:Michael breaking down Queen's Bicycle Race in the middle of Sex Bomb and Jon and Dar joining in spontaneously singing "bicycle! bicycle! bicycle!" without prior discussion or rehearsal.

What the future holds:
Not sure when the next show will be...but we're working on getting in at Dry Bean and King Club and returning to The Local Tavern...all this summer. Michael is off to Hawaii until mid-June...so until then...Aloha.

Let's all hold hands and pray to the great and good folks over at The King Club for a gig in late June or in July. Ohhhmmmm. Maybe if all of us Lollards put shot glasses under our pillows before we go to bed, the Gig Fairy will leave us a show.

A Long Stretch

Circumstance will have prevented us kids from gathering for music and liquor for 19 solid days when we get together for practice on May 14th. Possibly the longest stretch apart since we formed late last summer.

It seems like an eternity.

Maybe we'll make up for it by playing together three days that week.
