Rehearsal Mishaps

We here at Lollards Central were remiss in not mentioning that at last weeks rehearsal the police showed up and asked us to turn it down. We've been rockin' out E. Johnson street once a week since December...and twice a week from August through December...so we're a little at a loss as to why the sudden neighborhood concern. Perhaps new neighbors...or maybe the open window situation of warmer weather will be our downfall.

A little skittish after our encounter with the police, at least one of us thought that gun shots were being fired last night when Jon's "new" tube amp blew its first tube. A remarkably loud and frightening sound indeed. A basic assumption moving forward...if it is a gadget and it is in Jon's general proximity...it will break suddenly, mysteriously, and with great flair. Unfortunately, Jon seems to have a penchant for gadgets.

Mission Accomplished

Friday night, The Lollards singlehandedly saved Sudan.

Well...not really...but we tried to do our part.

It was a nice turnout for our debut at Cafe Montmartre...the usual suspects (the "old ladies," Mr. and Mrs. The Nugget), along with a smattering of folks both there for the benefit and just there for a Friday night at Momo. Some said it was our best show yet...and we'll take that. Most importantly...there was DANCING! Let's all work towards more of that in the future...agreed?

Thanks to the kit player for This Bright Apocalypse for sharing his spiffy drumkit and thereby reducing band transition time for our friend, Mr. Soundguy (we were a little worried he was going to beat us all up if there was a delay). Thanks too to Caroline Ackley for hooking us up with the show. And thanks, as always, to The Usual Suspects.

The boys are off on vacation to New Orleans and Hawaii...so our next show will likely not be until the Bike to Work Week Final Fiesta, Friday, May 18th. Event is 4-7...music 5-7. Details on how to get in free and get pizza, beer, and tunes at www.bfw.org.

Thank You Oshkosh...Goodnight!

...Err...Goodmorning!

Some said we were crazy...but...

In true rock n roll fashion, Dar got 3 hours sleep Friday night and then drove the boys up to Oshkosh for our 8:25-9:45am show at the Oshkosh Half Marathon.

Surprisingly, it was a total hoot! A small crowd gathered near us (including one member of The Lollards fan club...who attended Dar's show in Madison Friday night and was still there in Oshkosh bright eyed and bushy tailed to watch us Saturday morning...and who, sadly, was NOT offered a Bloody Maria because SOMEONE didn't bring the goods...cough*Jon*cough). The passing runners clapped for us as we clapped for them. Highlight...Jon changing the words to "Kirkwood" to "Marathon...Mile 6". And the capper...we got offered a gig playing a block party this summer in Oshkosh by one of the local home owners...guess they didn't mind us blasting rock and roll at the crack of ass in their hood afterall.

Thanks to Dawn at Midwest Sports Development for hooking us up (posting to Craig's List...good) and for being a more hospitable than average booking agent.

New Show: Cafe Montmartre, Friday April 20th

We are confirmed as one of 3 openers for Screaming Cyn Cyn and the Pons at Cafe Montmartre for a Darfur benefit gig next Friday, April 20th. Early indications are the we'll go on stage around 8:30pm for a 30 minute set and that the cost is $10...but promo for the show seems sparse so far...so the details are not firm.

Saturday's gig in Oshkosh details:
We will be stationed at 1442 W. New York Ave and will play 8:25am-9:45am. No cover. We'll have Bloody Marias (made with chili infused tequila!) available for anyone on the fan email list who shows up to this gig.
